Pizza Pop Tarts

Ingredients:

  • 1 package puff pastry dough (thawed)
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 20-24 pepperoni slices
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Roll out the puff pastry dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into rectangles, roughly 4×6 inches each. You should get about 8 rectangles, depending on the size of your dough.
  2. Assemble the Pop Tarts:
    • Place half of the rectangles on the prepared baking sheet. These will be the bottoms of your pop tarts.
    • Spoon about 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce onto the center of each bottom rectangle, spreading it out slightly but leaving a border around the edges.
    • Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
    • Place 2-3 slices of pepperoni on top of the cheese.
  3. Seal the Pop Tarts:
    • Lay the remaining rectangles of dough over the top of the filled ones.
    • Press the edges together with your fingers, then use a fork to crimp the edges and seal the pop tarts.
    • Brush the tops of the pop tarts with the beaten egg wash to help them turn golden and flaky as they bake.
  4. Bake:
    • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pop tarts are golden brown and puffed up.
  5. Serve:
    • Allow the pizza pop tarts to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm as a fun snack or a quick meal!
